Childhood, which continues from the newborn period until the age of 16, is a special period that needs to be closely monitored in order to raise healthy individuals and prevent possible diseases.

In addition to the follow-up and treatment of common childhood diseases, our department also provides preventive health services for infants, children and adolescents aged 0-16 years. Upper and lower respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal tract infections and urinary tract infections are the most common diseases in childhood. Early diagnosis and correct treatment of these conditions is life-saving, especially in the newborn group. Children with frequent infections are investigated for any underlying facilitating disease and nutrition and cleaning recommendations are made to reduce infectious diseases and infant care trainings are provided.

It should not be forgotten that a healthy generation creates healthy and happy societies. For this reason, from the birth of our children; control examinations should be performed within the first week, on the 15th day, monthly between 1-4 months, every 3 months between 6-12 months, every 6 months between 13-36 months, and annually after the age of 6. In these examinations, not only the physical but also the developmental, social and psychological conditions of infants, children and adolescents are evaluated.

In addition, infants, children and adolescents are vaccinated during these regular check-ups and this growth, development and vaccination information is shared with the Ministry of Health.

Nutrition, which is the most important factor determining the growth and development of children, is definitely addressed in pediatric examinations. Breast milk is the most important factor to be considered for the development of the baby. The mother and the baby are supported to feed the baby with breast milk from birth and to continue breastfeeding for the first 6 months, and guidance is given on switching to complementary feeding after the 6th month. Nutritional problems are one of the leading factors that negatively affect growth and development. In order to ensure a strong immunity and prevent diseases, we monitor the growth processes of children with nutritional problems and explain and support the family on how they should behave regarding the child’s nutrition.
